The Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) provides duty free entry to qualified imports from many developing countries. The program expired on 12/31/17, but has now been renewed retroactively, effective 04/22/18. Damco Customs Services Inc. continued flagging for GSP even during its hiatus, using Special Program Indicator “A”. Within the next few weeks or months, Customs will issue refunds for all the duty which was paid on these entries. This process is automatic, with no further action needed by Damco or its clients.
